Welcome Back

No, I don't have anything new right now.  I will, eventually.  I just wanted to let you know that the original is back.  It might be a limited time run, so get reading.

Good Luck

Guess what kids! The original is back!

Luck and huge success is wished for, of course. And yes, there is a betting line on when it blows up again. I've got the under, of course.

Making the Tough Decision

Everybody wants to say things like this, but it's harder than it looks.

Budgets are tough everywhere. Tough budgets make decisions even harder to get, because now every penny is scrutinized. Of course, it's scrutinized in the form of a negative proof. Which totally sucks. You can lay out a plan that will save tons of money yet still get shot down because, hey, it might not happen like that, ergo why take the chance. It's almost reminiscent of those "nobody got fired for buying IBM" clichés, back before the kids and all the new hotnesses.

Managementese

Is it too much? I never know.

When you start to rattle off stuff like this without thinking, you might be in management. Or, headed that way soon.

Actually, We Do Care

The more you try and make crazy things up, the more they happen in real life.

I'm sure you've all been there, in that huge meeting where everybody punts on the details and leaves it all up to you. You, diligently, take up the reins and make bold, forward thinking design decisions. You then make a fatal mistake, you go back to get approval from a group that wanted no part in making those decisions. You must now pay the penalty.

Pro Tip: When going back, it's best to "inform" rather than seek "approval."

Digg and The Rise of Lists

Wherein I turn down Digg

There is no real story about Digg offering me anything. I'm just tired of lists, ordered or unordered. Throw in a <dl> every once in a while...I'm just sayin'.
